I’ve always been interested in media. When I was four years old my Dad took me to work with him at CBC Television in Toronto. He showed me his behind the scenes work in live television as a technician. When he took me to the control room, I was given the privilege of pushing the button so that a commercial would cue up during an episode of “I Love Lucy”.
I have had other experiences in media since that time. When I ran the Christian Musicians Association from 1982 to 1986 I saw behind the scenes in a number of Ontario based newspapers and radio stations. In 1988, I wrote a proposal that was approved and I launched Generation XC a youth television talk and information show. From 2000 to 2008, I helped to connect Canadian Christian artists, bands, musicians, performing artists, radio and television station pioneers and writers through the network I created called ChristianMedia.ca.
Now I produce educational videos and radio documentaries and run a web site about Canadian media history, present trends and media convergence called David Spencer’s Media Spin at http://media.davidspencer.ca.
